Who can be a Girl Scout? 
Girl Scouts is an all-inclusive organization that welcomes girls of all religions, nationalities and backgrounds who are in
grades K-12.

How can adults get involved? 
Girl Scout leaders are needed to start Girl Scout troops. If interested, complete a volunteer position application and send it in today. There are other positions for which adults can volunteer, such as troop cookie manager, troop camping consultant, first aider, treasurer and more.

How much does it cost to be a Girl Scout?   
The annual membership fee is $15. Plus, the troop collects dues at troop meetings. Troop dues are typically around $3 per meeting. Troops usually meet twice a month, though dates and frequency depend on the schedules of the leaders and girls. These dues along with troop funds earned through the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Magazine and Nut Program should cover badges, supplies and activities.

Where does the $15 annual membership fee go and what does it cover?  
The $15 membership fee goes to Girl Scouts of the USA, the national Girl Scouts organization, and covers services such as accident insurance for each registered member.

Does my girl have to have a uniform? 
Girl Scouts at each level have one required element (tunic, sash, or vest), for the display of official pins and awards, that will be required when girls participate in ceremonies or officially represent Girl Scouting. For girls ages 5 to 14, the unifying look includes wearing a choice of a tunic, vest, or sash for displaying official pins and awards, combined with their own solid white shirts and khaki pants or skirts. Girl Scouts in high school can also wear a scarf that ties their look to the sisterhood of Girl Scouts around the world. For adult members, the unifying look of the uniform is a Girl Scout official scarf, or tie for men, worn with official membership pins, combined with their own navy blue business attire. Girl Scouts at the Daisy and Brownie levels have a full uniform ensemble available.

Is financial aid available? 
Yes, financial aid is available for girl and adult membership fees. Girl Scouts Heart of Central California can also provide either a uniform piece (vest or sash) or book to qualifying girls. Financial assistance is additionally available for council and service unit events as well as day and overnight camp. Please note that assistance is limited to those with financial hardship.

How can families donate to Girl Scouts? 
Donations to Girl Scouts Heart of Central California’s Family Partnership make Girl Scouts possible for every girl. All tax-deductible contributions to Family Partnership go directly to girls in the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California (GSHCC) council and keep programs and services affordable for families. Voluntary contributions can be made when completing Girl Scout membership registration or at any other time of the year.

What area does Girl Scouts Heart of Central California cover? 
Girl Scouts Heart of Central California serves more than 28,000 girls and 10,000 volunteers in 18 counties which include: Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Mariposa, Merced, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba. The Program Center is located in Sacramento with additional offices located in Stockton and Modesto.
